Trend Alert: Brides, Mules & Kolhapuris are here to Take Over the Heels!
The months of July and August have been an absolute delight. Thanks to ICW and LFW we have seen the trends; the good and the bad of Indian bridal wear. While sindoor red is back in fashion and the flouncy edges are all the rage, I also noticed a new trend when it comes to footwear. The humble Kolhapuri chappals have announced their arrival in the bridal market and they have brought a friend from afar, a faraway land- the Mules. A year ago brides got a hang of wearing comfortable footwear like juttis and I guess there is no looking back since. More and more brides have become kinder to their feet by dressing them up in comfortable options- the Kolhapuris and Mules fit right in!
Traditionally, a pair of Kolhapuris are made with leather and have a red pom-pom on top. They are sturdy and quite popular in Maharashtra and neighbouring Gujarat. The Mules, much like the animal is a hybrid. It is a crossover between a pointed toe ballerina and a slider. Brides to be, it is time to opt for chic and comfortable options that won’t cause blisters on your feet. Get on the trendy train by opting for Kolhapuris chappals or Mules for your wedding functions!
