Certain countries of Europe like Greece, Switzerland and Italy are famous tourist destinations. But are you aware of the hidden gems of Europe that are breathtakingly beautiful and make for perfect honeymoon destinations? You are a signature edition honey, why should the places you visit be any less? After some research, we’ve got for you 3 hidden gems of Europe that are enchanting and definitely worth a visit with your better half. We assure you these places are nothing short of breathtaking. It’s a great time to start planning your honeymoon (a second honeymoon if the first one is already done!)
1. Malta
No no, not the fruit malta, but the beautiful archipelago between Sicily and North African coast, Malta. Surrounded by deep blue waters of the Mediterranean sea, Malta has a rich and ancient history. It is home to numerous fortresses, megalithic temples and sandy beaches. The summers are hot and dry so avoid visiting Malta during summers. The best time to visit is during end of April and end of October.
Places to visit- Island of Gozo, Island of Comino (expansive blue lagoon with crystal clear turquoise waters- perfect for swimming!), Golden Bay Beach, Dingli Cliffs, Hagar Qim Temples and many more.
Things to do- Hiking, snorkeling, sailing, diving and cycling. Try the local beer Cisk.
Pro Tip- Carry an effective sunblock.
2. Bosnia and Herzegovina
Set in the Balkan Peninsula, Bosnia and Herzegovina has experienced a troublesome past. But they’ve risen from the ashes to become a calm, quiet and peaceful country. You will come across some epic landscapes when you visit them! Visit Bosnia and Herzegovina if you want to witness some grand mosques, beautiful waterfalls and lip smacking Balkan delights! The best period to visit is September to November.
Places to visit- Mostar, Sutjeska National Park, Medjugorje, Blagaj, Kravica, Lukomir, Jayce and many more.
Things to do- Rafting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and fly fishing. Do try the Balkan kebab Cevapi!
Pro tip- The weather here can be very dicey. In 2006 the hottest and coldest day ever experienced were recorded in June itself. So it’d be better to follow weather forecast before planning a trip.
3. Montenegro
Hello, nature lovers! Do you long to see rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow stretch of beaches? Worry no more, cause Montenegro is the place to go! Montenegro is a beautiful Balkan country that has proved its worth after the civil war. It is one of the most interesting places to visit in Europe.
Places to visit- Durmitor, Biogradska National Park, Sveti Stefan, Bay of Kotor, Budva, Perast and many more.
Things to do- Kayaking, mountain biking, scuba diving, wind and kitesurfing.
Pro tip– Short pants are not allowed in public institutions (such as hospitals.) Dress modestly while visiting monasteries or churches.
It’s so difficult to choose one place out of these three! Maybe we’ll bump into you while you’re celebrating your honeymoon and we are celebrating our loneliness (just kidding!)
