India Gate Basmati Rice has come up with a great initiative and here is how you can give back to the society!
Indian weddings are famous for the number of ceremonies and the time duration of each! One of the most popular ceremonies is showering rice on the couple while taking the pheras. Also, it’s considered auspicious and often seen as a mark of fertility in Hindu ceremonies.
Rice is used to shower the newly married couple to bless them. End of the day, all that rice is thrown away in the dustbin. 10 million weddings take place in India every year. Every wedding wastes almost 2-5kgs of uncooked rice along with other cooked food. That means we waste 20-50 million kgs of rice every year!
In case we’ve forgotten, India is a developing country. The country is still grappling from poverty and hunger. Around 195 million of our countrymen are undernourished and don’t see the light of the next day because of hunger.
